City Receives Double Gas Tax Funding From Federal Government

As part of the Government of Canada’s Budget 2019, the Federal Government will double the amount of money municipalities receive this year through the Federal Gas Tax Fund.

As part of this initiative, the City will receive approximately $80 million to use for transit and transportation infrastructure. This one-time additional funding will enable the City to deliver on priorities of growing transit and transportation infrastructure and systems including active transportation such as cycling.

Since 2005, Mississauga has received approximately $437 million through the Gas Tax Fund helping the City move forward in delivering on its Strategic Plan and City-building initiatives.
