Activities and Resources to Keep Residents Active and Engaged at Home

As City of Mississauga facilities remain closed in response to COVID-19, the City offers a number of free resources and activities to keep residents engaged and motivated from the comfort of their home.

Recreation Activities:

Staying indoors at this time may be necessary, but it is also important to stay active. The City’s fitness experts are here to help you out with simple tips and exercises. Participate in Mississauga Recreation’s #StayHomeStayActive campaign by following their FacebookTwitter or Instagram channels.

Library Resources:

Mississauga Library has a wide range of digital resources (eg., ebooks, emagazines, movies, etc.) at your fingertips. Residents can access them using their library card. For residents who don’t have a physical card, you can get a virtual library card to access digital items and resources such as:

eBooks/Magazines/Newspapers and Audiobooks

Instantly download from thousands of ebooks and audiobooks available through Libby by OverdriveHoopla or Tumble Books. Borrowing limits have also increased. Users can now borrow up to 15 items on Hoopla and up to 20 items on Libby by Overdrive.

Digital magazines and newspapers from all over the world are also available through FlipsterRB Digital and Press Reader.

Book Recommendations

Visit the library’s Instagram channel to request and view recommended reads on a variety of topics.

Movies and TV

You can make it a movie night, every night. Stream free movies and TV shows on your digital devices through Hoopla. There are thousands of titles available, from Hollywood favourites to foreign films and more.

Music

Stream or download from thousands of albums of your favourite genre through Freegal. If working from home or working out, create a playlist to keep you focused and motivated.
