Bread and Honey Festival 50th Year Anniversary

This is a very exciting year for the Village of Streetsville, as the Streetsville Founders’ Bread and Honey Festival is back in town and celebrating its milestone 50th anniversary as a community festival! I have many wonderful memories of this very special community festival over the years, from the stellar live performances to the delicious bread and honey that is served fresh for all to enjoy!  This year will be an extra special celebration to commemorate this historic milestone for the festival, with fantastic programming and activities for everyone to enjoy! 

This year, the festival will be a one day Bread and Honey Street Festival, on Saturday June 4th, 2022 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pmThe Street Festival will take place on Queen Street South, from Thomas Street to Tannery Street. The road closure will be between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm on Saturday June 4th, 2022. The road closure will be supervised by Peel Police and private security. Any streets not within the closure will operate as usual.

There is so much going on at the festival this year, so bring your friends and family and catch it all! Opening Ceremonies begin at 10 am on Saturday at the Square, commencing with Streetsville Pipes and Drums. Former Mayor Hazel McCallion, Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Councillor George Carlson and MP Rechie Valdez will unveil the 50th anniversary commemorative plaque and Bree Taylor will perform. Inflatables, Monkey Bus and Zoosemobile at Maiden Lane and the RBC parking lot and featuring the Bee Mascot throughout the whole festival grounds. Over 60 vendor booths throughout the festival grounds, food, home decor, jewellery, children activities and more. Look for buskers, stilt walkers, Silver Elvis and Party California Clowns face painting and balloon art. Beauty of Bees in the Pollinating Garden beside the Streetsville BIA 2 pm – 4 pm and Mississauga Teen’s Got Talent on Mill Street 2 pm to 4 pm. Don’t miss the free bread and honey at the Town Square and the curling rink on Pearl Street sponsored by the Vic Johnson Arena and lots more fun!

Be sure to catch the amazing live music this year at the Main Stage located at the Village Square (Queen St S & Main St- free admission!) on Saturday from 11:00 am to 9:30 pm and at the Bread and Honey Beer Garden at the Streetsville Legion (101 Church St) on Saturday from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm; there is a $5.00 entry fee for the Beer Garden and ID is required. The Streetsville Legion will be hosting its annual Friday Night Musical Celebration with “Mountain Lion Trappers” on Friday 3 June 2022.

Bring the little ones and check out all of the great performers and fun activities for kids at the RBC parking lot, on Saturday from 12noon to 5pm. Also, you can’t go to the festival without having some amazing food! The delicious variety of eateries in the Village will have special tempting and delectable fare available, and several food trucks will also be available throughout the festival area. Last but not least, head down to Streetsville Memorial Park for a spectacular fireworks display like no other starting at 9:45pm! It is guaranteed to be a blast!

If you enjoy fishing, head down to the banks of the Credit River on Sunday June 5th (south of the Island Bridge) from 9-11am for my annual Fishing Derby. The derby is open to children 16 and under. Please bring your own fishing gear, and fish for great prizes! Also, join us for Bread and Honey Gives Back with Music in the Square from 1pm-4pm on Sunday!
