SMALL TOWN ROOTS

I grew up in the little village of Streetsville where my dad built our family home after World War Two. I just made it in time for the Streetsville Centennial in 1959 but I can’t say I remember the celebration! My mother’s family is pictured here in about 1932. Grandpa was the local police chief. My mother is seated on the step (far left).

Edward Rutledge, Chief of Police, Village of Streetsville, 1937.  Just visible over the hood of the car are the spires of the Anglican church, which burned down in the late 1990s.

Circa 1900s.  Skaters on Mullet Creek behind Edward Rutledge’s Farm House.  The farmhouse was demolished in the late 1960s to make room for the current home at 72 Rutledge Road.
